Just a Little Bit of Yardwork.

Well, Shane and I have been working hard at making our new home ours.  We decided to take a brake from painting and wanted to make just a few changes in the yard to spruce it up a little.  It's amazing how much of a difference it can make just by doing little changes here and there.  We are at a stopping point right now until spring when we have plans to do a complete make over in the back yard.  Here are the before and after of the front yard.  Enjoy!!

A New Home For The Bonella's

Well for the last 5 months or so we have been waiting on this short sale house that we made an offer on and finally we closed at the end of July.  The wait was long but so worth the it, but I don't know if we will ever buy short sale again.  We moved on August 6th, our good friends Lance and Karen and a few other good men from the ward helped us move.  We also painted the day before so all day painting and the next day moving I was sore by Sunday and Monday.  My feet hurt so bad, but I kept moving as I am a stickler for organization.  We have painted the kitchen, dining, living and hall.  This week we are hoping to get started on the hall bath.  We are happy with our little home, it's cozy and just perfect for us.  It's been a dream for years to buy a house, but the right house has never come our way until this year.  We looked at this house back in January, but the price was out of our price range and I remeber standing in the hall wishing we could buy this house, then a month later the price dropped and since we had already seen it twice we jump on the chance to make an offer and ours was accepted right away, but it's the 3rd party that took 5 months to accept our offer.  By the time we moved we were all packed up and ready to go, so moving was easy for everyone.  We are very grateful to have a home of our own.  We are busy busy making it our home Bonella style.  Here are a few sneak peak pictures.  More to come!!

I love my stripes.  I saw this on a blog  http://theletteredcottage.net/room-inspiration-tuesdays-with-dorie/and decided to try it in the kitchen.

Back to the 50's

 A couple Saturdays ago Shane and I went down town to Riverside park for back to the 50's.  Old cars come from all over for this spectacular event.  Sometimes I wish I was born in this era, seems like a lot of fun.  Cruisin around in these old cars, sharing a milk shake with your date, hang out at the local drive-in diner, just seems like it was more care free back then.  The car show also reminds me of my dad as he loved old cars and I know he would love to have gone to this show.  Speaking of my dad, Shane pointed out a John Holwege look-a-like.  It was kind of cool but weird at the same time.  His profile exactly like him, but from the front not as handsome as my dad.  And his build was different, but boy was his profile just like him.  I stood over to the side and snaped a picture of this guy pretending to get a picture of the car.

The Beauty in Southern Oregon

We took another day trip and adventured out all day on Friday-this time we decided to drive up to Crater Lake.  What a perfect day, the weather was beautiful, clear blue sky, a great day to explore this amazing wonder of the world and such a nice drive with breathtaking views.  We enjoyed our day and then stopped at Joseph Stewart State park to take a swim in Lost Creek Lake.  A fabulous day for the Bonella's.

A Saturday drive through the Redwoods

We decided to take a day trip to Jed Smith located in the Redwoods about an hour towards the coast from our home.  What a beautiful day to sit and relax on the Smith River.  It's very exciting to have the Redwoods praticly in our back yard.  After a swim in the river we cruised on down to Cresent City for some yummy Clam Chowder and a pit stop on the beach.

Saturday, June 23rd was Relay For Life and Shane and I joined in on the cure for cancer.  We were on a team called "Change Agents" with 10 other people from work.  For a few months now we have been raising money for the American Cancer Society.  We had a booth at a VW car show back in April, a Garage sale in May as well as a few other things like selling Luminaria bags and personal donations.  My personal donation amount was $395.00.  I was pretty happy with that amount.  A big thank you to those who made donations.  The day/night of the Relay is one I will never forget.  Shane and I sold fresh lemonade and walked the track from 10:15 pm to about 12:30 am.  It was fun to hang out with friends and be a part of such a great cause.  I'm excited to do this again next year.
